Ensuring Education and Safety in Haiti

Haitian Roots 2024 students
Students beginning the 2024 to 2025 school year.

Despite the challenging circumstances in Haiti, both our schools opened this year on October 2. Due to gang violence, we had a few days of closures in November to keep out students and faculty safe. Currently, both schools are open each day with strong enrollment.

According to reports from UNICEF and World News, the number of children recruited into gangs in Haiti has increased by 70% this past year. The glimmer of hope is that Haitian Roots students have maintained a 99% pass rate of 8th and 12th grade exams. Our students are graduating and going on to a better life, removed from gang violence.

We remain committed to providing quality education and essential services to our students and staff. Our teachers provide for their families by remaining employed. Our students are safe from the escalating violence and being recruited into gangs. However, wea re still in need of funding to maintain our programs and ensure Haitian Roots students receive necessary food and support.

Your generous contributions help us continue our mission of providing a safe learning environment for the children of Haiti, offering them hope for a better future amidst the turmoil they face. Thank you for your support!
