Chareyl Gentry Moyes

Founder and Executive Officer

Chareyl Moyes is an executive director at Haitian Roots and one of the founders of the organization. Her youngest son, Robby, was adopted from a Haitian orphanage when he was 18-months old.

Moyes served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Philippines, where she gained a love and passion for humanitarian work. She has spent her life caring for and supporting her children, family members and others in need. She has made dozens of trips to Haiti, often going several times a year. Her work with orphanages, the Haitian government and international adoptions has shown her the tremendous need for education in Haiti.

Moyes has worked as a program manager for the Wasatch International Adoption Agency since 2004. She is the program director for the Haiti program and has worked with Ethiopia, Guatemala and domestic adoption programs. She has served on the joint council for International Children Services and as the Haiti Caucus Chair for the National Council for Adoptions (NCFA).

Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Moyes now lives in Ogden, Utah. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loves to travel with her husband, especially to the Oregon coast, bear lake and of course, to Haiti.
